The Waiting
It’s a strange feeling between the time you hear someone has to go to the doctor for a follow-up exam and the time you hear the results.
It’s a strange time frame. A dangerous time journey. On that street live the dark houses of Fear, Worry and What-If. If while we walk down the street of Waiting we happen upon one of these houses, we have choices. We can simply glance in the window and see all that we could feast upon, or we can go in.
There is no doubt that during the Waiting the houses on that Street will indeed affect us. They live there. They affect the Waiting, but we don’t have to move in with them. We can keep walking. We can keep walking and “fear no evil.”
We can walk by, feel the sensation of the houses and with the strength of God, we pass without knocking, feasting and sleeping in those places. They call to us. They call to us to come in, look at the paintings of possibilities and false realities. They beckon us to come in and somehow find comfort in their decorations and furniture.
We cannot. Those on the Waiting road stand in the doorway, weep, and try with all their might to walk back down the sidewalk. They know that what is in those houses will bring nothing but trouble and death of spirit.
So what does the sojourner do? They keep walking. There is no other path on the Waiting, there is only another Companion who speaks words of hope and encouragement. He walks us through the houses of fear with strength to leave and keep moving. Not that those houses don’t continue to pop up, some with magnificence and magnetism. They cannot be completely avoided, but they can be left empty with no visitation from us.
Difficult? Yes. Impossible? Never.
So, if you are on the Waiting road, make no mistake, you are never alone. Keep walking.

Great illustration! I needed this today. =)
Yes, those waiting periods can be crazy—I can’t imagine walking through them without my faith.
If I didn’t have the Lord in my life during these waiting times, especially with the health issues of my boys, I don’t know where I would be.
Blessings,
Cazandra
