All I have is an idea…that’s it. Just and idea. A very, MERRY idea.
So, let’s say, hypothetically speaking, I wanted to make some extra dough, say, around the Holidays, but I didn’t want to teach piano because I’ve done that and I’m in no mood to teach a 6 year old where middle C is after school at 4:00 pm with three kids in my own house, one being under the age of one.
And let’s say, hypothetically, that I luh-hu-huved wrapping Christmas presents, so much so, that every year I buy paper that matches my tree and all the ribbons and what-not to go on it. And, I only buy the reeeally good, thick paper from Hobby Lobby when it goes half price, that is unless Hallmark has a big sale on all the (RED) paper and I buy it up.
So, now that I hypothetically love doing this, what if I had the hankering to do this wonderful service for the local-yocals in the city where I live? What if…what if I charged them a small, but good enough to put some in my pocket for safe keeping, amount of money for this service? What if I said I wrap all your gifts with really good paper from Hobby Lobby because I’m keeping the Bono paper for me-self?
What if I opened a little seasonal “Let me wrap your packages for you so you don’t have to worry about it and I can teach my sweet, precious home school kids a few things about business and community service and you can drop them off and come get them when I’m all done. The gifts, not the kids.” business?
Hmm, would gentlemen like this so called hypothetical business?
Would it work?
Would you use it?
Do you know people who would use it?
What would you call it?
Does anyone else buy paper that matches their tree?
Just curious.

You would strike out with me because I enjoy wrapping.
I am a sicko like you.
I think you could do it. Don’t know what you would charge though.
You could call it.
“No Loose Ends” or “All Wrapped Up”
You also may want to think about adding a personal shopper service with it for the gentlemen that have a hard time finding gifts or the older senior citizens that have a hard time getting out. They could give you the list and then you buy. Charge a 10% fee on the product you buy. Then after they see and approve the purchases maybe give them a small discount for wrapping the gifts.
Just a thought.

We must be kindred spirits. I’ve often thought about a holiday wrapping business. I’m so glad I’m not the only one who thinks it would be fun! But would people take advantage of it? I dunno. I’m eager to read all the comments.
Consider me a Colorado franchise, k?
Yes, I too match my paper to my tree. I CRINGE when my kids see the Disney princess paper or other characters. I did cave last year and buy some, but I stuck those gifts in the back!
I thought last year of offering this service…I get a little nervous though when I think of haveing other people’s hundreds and hundreds o dollars worth of gifts in my home though!
I love wrapping too, and I love matching paper.
However, I know several people that would LOVE for someone to wrap all of their gifts. I think it’s a great idea!
What a great idea! I confess– I hate wrapping gifts. The thought of making them so lovely just to have them ripped open distracts me while putting forth the effort, but at the same time I love beautifully wrapped gifts. If I had the extra Christmas funds I would totally pay someone to wrap my presents!!
I think people would love it. Especially if the bows were beautiful. Bows make or break the look. People are busy and everyone is looking for ways to save time. And gift wrapping definitely takes time.
I would totally use this service if it were available in my area! I love the *idea* of perfectly matched and wrapped gifts sitting under my tree, but I usually just end up throwing everything in gift bags with some mismatched tissue paper the night before.
I say, go for it!
Would [Luke] like this? Eh…
Would it work? Perhaps.
Would you use it? Nope.
Do you know people who would use it? …do I know people at all?
What would you call it?
I Am (not) Santa [smile]
Tied and True
Santa’s Little Helper
Winter Wrapping
…okay, I don’t have any ideas.
Does anyone else buy paper that matches their tree?
I use Sunday Comics… which, I guess, at times, match the tree [smile].

I buy matching paper!
I think this is a good idea, you just have to find the right market for it (which probably isn’t stay at home moms as much as business people who’ve got a little more dough.)
I’m thinking a good way to market your services might be to contact some local companies (maybe the HR department) and tell them about what you’re offering. That way the company could offer it as a perk to busy employees during the holidays. Then maybe the company would just pay you a flat fee for offering the service to their workers. You could pick up all the gifts from the office on a certain day and then bring them back to the office at a designated time. Some companies to ask might be Express, Chesapeake, Love’s, Sonic – really any company in the area that has some money.
It’s a great idea! I agree with Summer…we’re in the same boat as you (no extra $ to pay someone to do that job).
Name? How ’bout “It’s a Wrap” ?
Happy Wrappy
Sorry. It's so dang cheesy, but I had to say it.
I worked as a wrapper in Belks one Christmas break… Learned how to make those baskets of various perfumes, with the cellophane wrapping shrunk down over the basket. Absolutely LOVED arranging the cellophane & then shrinking it all down.
Maybe I can come work for you as your Shrink-wrapper?
I would love a job like that! Yes! I buy matching paper…I buy paper to match the colors in my rooms..(yes I have more than one tree..I know its crazy!)
I think its a great idea!
Blessings!
Teresa
I always colour coordinate our gifts to our decorations. And the kids each get their gifts wrapped in their own paper so they know which ones are theirs without having to read the matching tags. But I would gladly let you wrap my gifts for me! If you, you know, lived here.
I don’t like wrapping, but I DO like trimming, like ribbons and stuff. I like to try to see how creative I can get. Sometimes it works, sometimes…not. I also get paper that matches. Not just the tree, but I get about three different kinds of paper that “go” with each other (NOT the kind that come three to a package unless it’s REEEEEALLY cute paper). My husband makes fun of me every. single. year. about it.
As far as your business venture, I’m sure there are people who would pay to have it done, especially if they don’t want anyone to see them wrapping. Hmm, you might have a Mississippi Girl franchise… : )
I would use it! Not a fan of wrapping presents, Not At All!!
LOVE wrapping. I buy Costco paper though. I’ll have to try hobby lobby.
I think gentlemen would use the service. My hubs lets the kids wrap my gifts. They have to do it the night before because there are usually gaping holes in the paper.
You are so cute Natalie.
I have my babysitter help me wrap and I don’t care at all what they look like.
Babysitter help while sitting makes it cheap.
I imagine the way people are freaking out in the economy, not many buyers.
You could offer to do the shopping and wrap for men – now that might go over really well.
I love your heart. I am so thankful that you encourage so many women! keep it up!
