Being Real

Would You Know I Like Hunky Han?

I can’t remember how many different ones he said, about four, I think. I’m sure I can come up with more, but according to LifeGroup member, Preston, JT and I have multiple personalities and facets.

For instance, Preston met us as LifeGroup leaders. Here he sees us as mentors to him and his wife, and so we are. We’ve got about 10 years on those little kids, and we pour into them as much as we can while they are in our home.

He also has met us as Bible Teachers. Whoa, now we’re getting spiritchal! We both grew up in the church with Godly parents and we both went to Bible college. (Had I known then what I know now about myself, I would have gone for the Theology degree, but alas, I was driven to the arts.)

Next, he went on to tell us that he also knows us as Wonder Parents! I’m not sure he said it that way, but I swear that’s what I heard.

And finally, two weeks ago…

LifeGroup was over and we were just kinda sitting around. There was a pause in conversation, so I took a deep breath, wrung my hands, and moved toward the fetal position as I said, “Um, you guys? I have a confession. There is something you need to know about me.”

All eyes on me. I think Pastor JT was thinking, “Oh no. What is she about to say.”

*clear throat*

“I absolutely love…

Lego Star Wars.”

Someone faintly said, “Wha?”

“It’s an XBOX game. It’s Star Wars but everyone is a Lego piece. I’m an addict.”

I don’t think they knew what to say. I’m sure some went into silent prayer. Others, simply dumbfounded with no idea what I was talking about anyway.

This is when Preston told us his revelation. We threw him a curveball. Leaders/Mentors/Wonder Parents/XBOX Lego lovers.

Tis true. I don’t play any other game. No Halo, or Call of Duty.

Just Lego Star Wars.

It

Is

HA-larious.

They look just like the Legos that we, well, my brother, grew up with. The best part is that when Chewy goes to take out a Storm Trooper, he jumps up on them and pulls them apart.

Now, this is a G-rated video game. No blood. The little Storm Troopers just pop apart and fade away. You can be anyone! Luke, Hunky Han, Chewy, Yoda! ANYONE!

So, now you know. I heart Lego Star Wars. I won’t tell you how many hours I have given up to this game. It’s worse when cold weather comes around. Hm, we can’t go outside, guess we’ll have to watch a movie or play Lego Star Wars.

It gets worse.

The girls and I were at Blockbuster. Just as I opened the door and walked in my eyes were drawn to the oh-so cleverly displayed display of, would you believe, Lego Batman.

It comes out this week.

I’m a little OCD about it. However, I need a new phone so the game will have to wait.

I’m thinking Christmas.

Yes, I can wait three months…I think.

  1. Gull, I, too, have Lego Star Wars for Wii. And, guess what I’m buying today? Uh huh. Lego Batman. This gull don’t play….except the Wii.

  2. I love Lego Star Wars, too!! I’ve managed to resist the lure of Lego Indiana Jones, but I really think Lego Batman will find his way into our house. It’s just so darn funny!

Have you noticed that in some of the Lego Star Wars scenes, the stormtroopers are giving each other noogies? 😀

    1. Good blog you have here.. It’s difficult to find excellent writing like yours nowadays.
I seriously appreciate people like you! Take care!!

  3. *sigh* that sounds like my kind of evening – the grown-ups goofin’ on each other. how I wish my church did small groups! I hope all you Life Church girls know how blessed you are.

  4. My wife recently got into Knights of the Old Republic for the Xbox (which I was able to bum off my brother). Unfortunately, the Xbox is sorta dying–too much Halo while it was in my brother’s hands, me thinks–so it isn’t very consistent.

We recently got ourselves a Wii and Spore, but there’s more games she wants… she’s going to have to wait several months as well. The budget can’t handle all the sweet games she wants.

  5. Well, don’t take this wring, but you and my 9 year old son would get along great then. 🙂 He loves Lego Star Wars and Lego Indiana Jones. Too funny. 🙂

  6. Natalie, I’m amazed that you even know what Lego Star wars is! With three girls and all. My two boys are obessed with anything Legos and anything Star Wars. How I long to be able to talk Barbies, baby dolls, even Hannah Montana (I know, sad), but alas I get to hear about how old Darth Sidious is and what kind of weapons General Grevious’ bodyguards use… At times I say “you can talk about anything besides Star Wars, Bioncles, and video games!” The only way I can get some quiet time!

  7. My coder is trying to persuade me to move tto .net frfom PHP.
I have alpways disliked the idea because of the costs.
But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using Movable-type oon various websites for about
a year andd am anxious about switching tto another platform.
I have heard good things about blogengine.net. Is there a way
I can import all my wordpress posts into it?
