I don't have that adventurous spirit

Seein’ as how when the new heaven and earth are coming some day, I just don’t feel the need to climb high mountains or dive into the depths of the Big Blue.

Lemme ‘splain….

There are adventure seekers, right? When’s the next thrill? When can I get that “rush”. Um, well, I don’t have that, what would you say, “need” for any of that. Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see London and Paris, the Swiss Alps and the Forbidden City. But, what if I never see those things? Will I have actually missed something when we get to heaven? Will I have any feeling of loss, or “shucks, God, I sure wish I could go back and see the Great Wall!” I don’t think so.

As much as I’d love to see those things, I have a sneaking suspicion that the new heaven and the new earth are going to so blow away what we find beautiful and fascinating and brilliant, that there is a part of me that would be okay with missing some of it.

There won’t be a sense of “loss” in heaven. We won’t have a sense of having missed something. It’s not going to be like what we feel here.

No regret.

No ache in our chest because of time gone by.

No wishing we could stop the clock and hold that 2 year old face just a few years longer.

No wishing.

No pain.

We will have complete satisfaction in all things because we will be with Satisfaction. We will be with Fulfillment.

We will be with God.

No hips that don’t heal in correct alignment. No goodbye’s to cherished family going back home. Yeah – that’ll be good!

There is so much beauty down here – I can’t even imagine what the new heaven and new earth will look like unsullied and unmarred by sin! Thanks for a great post :) – Kim
